I'm hoooooooome from the Bahamas. Little later than expected because we missed our flight. The hole in the ceiling and broken water heater didn't fix themselves while we were gone, so that's on the list of things to do.
Because of the leaky heater (it's actually a pipe by the heater we now know), I can't use half of the faucets in the house. That means NO washer for all the stinky vacation clothes.
I'm off to the store to get more detergent, so I can practice my mad pioneer laundry skillz in the master bath tub. I can't believe I have to hand wash. If my husband doesn't stop humming the Little House on the Prairie tune, I will throw a shoe at him.
And I was all excited about washing my new quilty fabric so I could cut it today.
More about the vacation later, but here it is in short:
"A suite!"
"What, no ocean view?"
"Hmmm, should we go to the ocean or beach-front infinity pool?
"Another rum runner, please."
"Mmmm...ten-dollar lobster."
"We're under a tropical storm warning."
"Horray for 80-minute massages."
"No more tropical storm warning."
"Oops, my arms got burnt because I wouldn't get out of the turquoise water."
"We leave at 1:15 and get home at 3:00? That make no sense."
"Oh, we were supposed to be on the 11:00 flight? I knew 1:15 to 3:00 didn't make sense." (Glares daggers at husband for his mistake)
"Yay! Three seats on the 2:00 miraculously appear!"
"We're home! Cats are mad. Hole is still in the ceiling. Back to reality."
Fin.

welcome back!
missed you bunches. well, until i read that line about the 80 minute massages... now i'm just jealous and don't miss you anymore. ;-) just kidding, of course.... but hey, wouldn't it be cool to go back to that spa we went to together in CA? Sip some cucumber water, shoot the shit, and think of nothing relating to school, water heaters, bills, or tropical storms- at least for a few hours. ::sigh::We have GOT to touch base soon. We need to catch up in some detail. Oh, and I can get your opinion on the bachelors - to- phd program that I'm checking out. (ah, if only we knew where the hell the other half was going to be going to school -- or working-- next year)
miss you,
J

beach front infinity pool!!!! LOBSTER!!!! Can I use any more exclamation points? YES!!!!
Why not go to a laundromat instead of breaking your back?

I'm glad that you're back! I can't wait to hear all the details, but from what you posted already, sounds pretty great! We're going to the Bahamas next year, but it's a cruise.

I have to admit, I don't know where the nearest laundromat is. There are a zillion washaterias all over Houston, but none near me. We just got a new phone book yesterday (lucky!), so I'll look there.

And yeah, the lobster was so good and $10. It came with fries, cole slaw, onions and butter.
I don't think there's a laundromat anywhere near me, but the next town over has like 10,000 washaterias. I might go there for the big stuff like sheets. It just depends on when the plumber comes. I can still use the spin cycle and dryer so I managed to wash 3 days worth of undies and shorts. Things will be easier when my husband goes back to Ohio.
